Assoc. Prof. Galen Shivarov

Areas of Professional and Scientific Interest:

Otorhinolaryngology, otology, neurotology, laser and radiofrequency surgery in the area of the ears, nose, throat and neck, oncological surgery of the larynx and neck, obstructive sleep apnea, rhinology, rhinosurgery, rhino- and pharyngometry, allergology, phoniatrics, voice rehabilitation, auditory rehabilitation and hearing aids, healthcare management.

Education and Qualifications:

In 1987, Assoc. Prof. Galen Shivarov graduated from the Third Natural Sciences and Mathematics High School in Varna, Bulgaria, in a class with intensive German language studies.
In 1995, he completed his higher education in Medicine at the Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov”, Varna.
He holds a medical specialty in “Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery” and has completed the following specialized courses:

In 2005, he obtained a Master’s degree in “Healthcare Management” from the Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov”, Varna.
In 2017, he earned a PhD in Medicine with a dissertation titled: “Efficacy of Radiofrequency Thermotherapy in Hypertrophic Rhinopathies”, Faculty of Medicine, Medical University – Sofia.

Current Position:

Assoc. Prof. Galen Shivarov is the Head of the Department of ENT Diseases at St. Anna University Hospital – Varna.

Teaching Activity:

His teaching work is primarily focused on the education and practical training of ENT residents. Between 2007 and 2022, nine doctors have successfully completed their ENT specialization under his supervision.
